Whether you experience water damage from a busted pipe, overflow from a toilet, or a natural disaster, it is important to remain calm and act quickly to mitigate further damage.

Unfortunately, some issues are out of our control, like Mother Nature, but following these simple steps can save you in the long run:

Initial Steps to Take After Experiencing Water Damage:

  1. Think safety first - Do not risk being harmed or injured in an effort to salvage your belongings.

  2. Find the source of the water and turn it off.

  3. Contact a water damage service provider, like ABSORB.

  4. Document your loss through photos or videos.

  5. Move contents to an area of the residence not compromised.

  6. Remain out of flooding caused by natural disaster, sewage backups, or other potential hazardous contamination.

Severe flooding inside your residence will eventually subside, and little can be done from a restoration standpoint until this occurs.

Remember, the restoration process is stressful and will take time to be performed correctly.
